How to train qualified professionals

The Technoforum 2023 conference programme featured the Strategic Session on Training of Engineering Personnel in the Face of New Challenges. It was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education and EXPOCENTRE AO under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

It session was moderated by Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Vladimir Kononov. In his opening remarks he spoke about the priority of personnel policy in the development of Russian industry and identified this as the main topic of the session.

First Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE Sergey Selivanov welcomed the participants and told them about the joint meeting of the Committees on Exhibition, Fair and Convention Activity and on Education and Social Policy of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry that took place on the same day. Its participants discussed the issues of personnel support of exhibition activities and improvement of mechanisms of interaction between the education system and the business community.  

First Vice-Rector at MISIS National University of Science and Technology Sergey Salikhov made a presentation and noted that MISIS had become one of the six Russian universities where the pilot project on the transition from the Bologna to the national education system will be implemented. He stressed the importance of creating and updating educational programmes and training professionals at the targeted request of business. According to him, it is very important in this pilot project to work as closely as possible with business partners, as it is a common task to train engineers who are able not only to solve problems, but also to set them, make decisions and take responsibility.

Managing Director for R&D Activities at Rostec State Corporation Elena Druzhinina emphasised the need for interaction between scientists and business. This is an important factor in achieving technological sovereignty of the country and development of the Russian economy. 

The session was attended by heads of universities from different regions of Russia. They shared their own experience and ideas in the work on education and training of qualified professionals.
